The Highest Highs and the Lowest Lows of the Semester

UofA: Semester At A Glance

After every semester is over, I look back at my pictures, and think about all the crazy times I have had. I think about the regretful hookups, late night Crunch Wrap Supreme's, studying endless flashcards, getting my fake taken away, crying with my roommates and all the memories to make one hell of a semester. Even though this semester is over, there's some highs and lows that everyone has that makes the semester memorable ether to its high or to its low.

The Highs and Lows of the Semester:

High: Got dressed up for formal, curled hair and all, ready for a good night with my friends, looking for a night to remember.

Low: My date threw up and had to be sent home early and now have to be sober and single at the next formal. Yes, it was definitely a night to remember...

High: Actually walked the long trek to the gym, faced the crowds and proceeded to do the StairMaster (which I thought I was dying on) and then did abs. Oh yeah, I was feeling accomplished and great!

Low: Ate a whole Chicken Pesto Pizza and Macaroni from Sauce. The work out was gone, but shout out to Sauce for making every bite worth it. "Yes I want a bread roll" (is that even a question?).

High: The so called "hurricane" that was supposed to drench and drown all of Tucson was so hyped up that it cancelled our classes (or just people decided not to go)

Low: There wasn't a single drop of rain on the ground the next morning. "Hurricane Odile" was the the most disappointing hurricane I have ever been in. I just hope Cabo is okay so we can still Spring Break there!

High: Our football team winning the Pac12 South Champ title and kicking the ASU Scum Devils to the curb in the most memorable game I have ever watched.

Low: Losing to the Oregon Ducks in the championship game and having the Wildcat nation slowly drown in their tears. Dare I say the score? (51-13...)

High: To make up for the football terrible loss, our basketball team has an amazing start to their season and remain undefeated with a 9-0 record. (Hint: Hit up AEPi on Thursdays, ohh I see you Hollis!)

Low:  Well there isn't really a low to this one! Go wildcats!

High: "Goin' Up On A Tuesday" came out therefore giving everyone an excuse to go out on a Tuesday. "Maloney's Tuesday Boozeday!"

Low: You now have to go out on a Tuesday...AKA you have to look somewhat decent in the middle of the week and you're liver isn't prepared for this.

High: Since I am a Junior, this is the year all your friends travel abroad. You are so excited for them to travel the world and have so many different experiences abroad.

Low: You are staying in Tucson and saying goodbye to your best friends absolutely sucks and there's no way to avoid being somewhat jealous and lonely in Tucson. But I know that my friends are going to kill it across the world and show everyone how we Bear Down in the Dirty. (I'll miss you guys! Love you, you know who you are!)

So there you have it, this semester in a nutshell. Sure everyone has their lows, but that is what makes the memories and whether it is a mistake or a regret. You will learn from it and laugh from it.

It's hard to believe that the whole 116 days of the semester have already gone by but every single day has been a blessing at the most amazing school I could ever imagine going to.

Have a Happy Holiday everyone, and see ya next year!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
