Throughout all the slightly awkward 20-minute conversations and the emotions of choosing the chapter you will call your new home, there's one person you can always count on. She'll wipe your tears when you don't know what to do, tell you when you need to lose the extra eyeliner and change your shoes, and celebrate with you when you pick the chapter of your dreams. She is your mother, sister, best friend, worst enemy, #1 fan, mentor; she's your recruitment counselor, your Rho Gamma.
During the entire recruitment process, everything is new. New friends, new campus, new classes, new life. And to top it all off, you are talking to so many different women at so many different chapters, and everything is a blur. But the light at the end of the tunnel? Your Rho Gamma.
When you're lost in Greek Land and need to get to your next chapter visit, you call your Rho Gam and she gives you step-by-step directions, magically knowing exactly where you are and explains how to navigate your way to your next location. When you realize you got dropped from a house you really loved, your Rho Gam is there, ready to pep you back up and assure you that you are still all that and a bag of chips despite a chapter dropping you.
Here's to you, Rho Gams, the unsung heroes of recruitment. Thank you for loving your recruitment group like your children, thank you for laughing at us when we fell on the stairs, and reminding us to smile despite the fear of what was behind the front doors of the chapter houses.
You gave up your letters to help me find mine, and for that, I am eternally grateful. I wouldn't have made it through recruitment without your unending support, love, and guidance. In giving up your letters, you helped me find a home away from home, a support system of sisters who give me unconditional love, the big sister I never had, the lifelong best friends I hoped I would find, and the organization I love more than anything.
