Creative minds are all too familiar with the age-old "writer's block" feeling. While it feels next to impossible to combat, and beyond frustrating to manage, there are ways to unravel this frustration.
1. Rid yourself of any negative thoughts that may be infiltrating the mind
Take a walk, take a nap, read a book, meditate. Do anything that will take your mind to a new sense of reality and heighten your senses in nature.
2. Take interest in a new perspective
Go out of your way to read up about an opinion entirely opposite your own. It works wonders by lighting a flame within you. To disagree with an opposing perspective is to instill new thoughts, and further the development of existing outlooks.
3. Live
If adventure is calling you to do something you've never done before, drop everything and pursue it. Life without risk is far less exciting. Not only will you receive a feeling of exhilaration, but a sense of accomplishment as well. Feeling as if you've checked one more thing off your bucket list can incite new adventures, and promote more creative thinking.
4. Productive procrastination
These words together sound like the biggest oxymoron ever created, but can be a very effective way to, "get the gears turning." Finding yourself trapped in a monotonous task is draining, but to stray away from priorities is to create something beautiful. Working on an essay? Start doodling, and create a work of art. Who knows what you may come up with?
5. Learn a new skill
New skills keep the mind sharp and active. They also have great potential to open new doors and create opportunity. More specifically, language. Learning a new language crosses over creative boundaries and brings a cultural aspect to the creative process.
6. Take up another art form
Let's say your preferred art medium is photography, and you're running out of fresh ideas for locations, angles and subjects to photograph. For one to improve their artistic presence, taking up painting, drawing or even sculpting could instill a new viewpoint in the artist's preffered medium.
