Unexpected Possibilities

An original poem for the hidden opportunities that present themselves. Live them out as you see fit!

Hey readers! I reflected a bit about possibilities and how unexpectedly they can come. When we place our energy elsewhere, there's the chance we aren't even paying as much attention to what is actually changing around us. This is not to say don't pay attention at all, but rather trust that the order of things will make sense in due time. With this in mind, I wrote this week's poem to inspire anticipation for the possibilities that await you. Stay focused and all will be revealed as it should be. Peace, everyone!

Waiting is hard, yet

Anticipation is harder

The rings of nervousness

Swirl around in my stomach

The sun seems much brighter

The clouds appear much bigger

It's all because of this feeling

That things are changing for the best

And that makes me nervous

'Is this a trick of some sort?'

The weight of this question toils away

Until I took a breath and released the tension

I do this to myself constantly,

Not accepting good things for what they are

Sometimes, that has proved effective

But right now, it isn't the time

For why should I not expect things to happen because they occur

When I least thought they would?

It's the way of the world

Possibilities are helping this feeling

Dwindle as I place my favor

Into seeking what this will bring me

I look up at the sky

Remembering how I felt

When I truly believed I would never

See the opportunities I sought after for so long

A tear forms in each eye because

I'm grateful for the unexpected chance

To make my aspirations come true

Dreaming and believing have lead

To this moment where I do trust

Where I can walk through that door

Into the endless gratitude of chances

I'm not talking about luck

But a real time to shine

I smiled and wiped the tears away

Today was another day

And the night would bring something new too

I waited again with anticipation

For what the stars would bring

That's the way of the world, it's true

But thanks to believing in unexpected possibilities,

I was ready to see it through

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
