You might be sitting in your English class spring semester and just look at the boy sitting behind you, start walking out of class with him and you two start talking. You guys start hanging out more and more. Then one day, it hits you, that you could not imagine how life would be without him. From Dunkin' runs, to getting breakfast at one in the morning. It was something that started just from a simple “hello” too. Funny how that works, right?
Or, you find yourself blacked out in a bar, taking too many tequila shots, dancing with some stranger (this one actually happened to me). Asking them if they wanted to come back to your place. Only to start uncontrollably crying because your senior year of college is coming to an end and you feel like you are going to lose your friends. Yet, this boy stayed. This boy cared. Love showed itself in the strangest way to me. From there to a library date, to going out to bars, love continued to show itself and continued to grow. Now, someone who was once a complete stranger is now my boyfriend. He continues to show me unexpected love every day; from taking my high heels off and giving me a foot massage after a long day, to rubbing my back to put me to sleep and I did not have to ask him to do it, he even makes me coffee before I wake up. I am forever grateful for this unexpected love.Throughout my 21 years of life, I have learned that you cannot go looking for love. You cannot have this big elaborated plan in your head about how you think love should work; because love will never be what you need, they will always be the wrong people for you. Love will always find you and that love might be something that you did not even expect. It is this unexpected love that will put the best person in your life.
The best kind of love is the one that comes to you unexpectedly. It opens your eyes, takes your breath away and makes you stop in your tracks, making you notice them. This type of love will finally make you understand why it just did not work with any of your previous lovers. These unexpected lovers are the ones who will be patient, they will listen and they will care, very deeply. They will make you a better version of yourself and you will do the same for them. This love is rare, but it is beyond beautiful.
