In America, Black Friday is known as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. As we all know, it's a chance for consumers to get into stores early, overnight hours, and exclusive promotional sales. The term was first coined in1952, and it is still known as the busiest shopping day of the year.
It's amazing to get such great discounts, but worrying about Black Friday on Thanksgiving takes away from celebrating. We work on a feast to share with those we love, and then we're worrying about shopping instead of spending time and being thankful for what we already have.
I understand that not everyone celebrates Thanksgiving, so that's another story, but for those that do, you can actually get better discounts if you wait until Black Friday comes and the days that follow. Cyber Monday has gained popularity the last few years, and has prevented many from the hassles of going out and shopping with crazy crowds.
Our world is dominated by digital, so you can simply go online and just order whatever you want at the convenience of your own home and you don't have to miss out on the holiday. Now is the time to get discounts, but this is a whole shopping season, so there will always be more to find.
There's also Small Business Saturday, which was created to contrast Black Friday. This day gives us a chance to support our favorite local mom and pop shops, which are always more exclusive than the big time retailers. They always specialize in something that isn't really featured in bigger stores, because the people who own them tend to buy and create their own stock.
It's the most wonderful time of the year, but it's also the busiest. So while you're celebrating Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, get some great discounts and stay safe while doing so.
