When I go to the library, I like to go to the shelves and pull a book at random to read. I find that this keeps me honest and literally keeps me from judging a book by its cover. In this way, I have been able to read some of the most beautiful, insightful, and fantastic books in my life. These are just a few of my favorite and in my opinion vastly underrated books.

1. "Navigating Early" by Clare Vanderpool

2. "Star Split" by Kathryn Lasky

3. "The Tragedy Paper" by Elizabeth Laban

4. " Famous Last Words" by Katie Alender

5. "Never 18" by Megan Bostic

6. "Shooting The Moon" by Frances O'roark Dowell

7. "A Curse As Dark As Gold" by Elizabeth C. Bunce

8. "Probably Still Nick Swansen" by Virginia Euwer Wolff

9. "Contaminated" by Em Garner

10. "Dead Girls Don't Write Letters" by Gail Giles

11. "Where Things Come Back Book" by John Corey Whaley

12. "Every You, Every Me" by David Levithan

13. "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" by Sherman Alexie

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating.
