Myself

Throughout my life I have been blessed to have been faced with many different people and many different situations, each unique next to the rest, but until now I don't think I ever truly appreciated it. I can look back on my life and say that there are so many little moments that I am thankful for, so here they are.

To my momma...

Mom, I want to thank you for raising me. Thank you for waking me up every day for school when you could have let me sleep in. Thank you for coming to every concert and ceremony despite how dreadfully boring they were. Thank you for yelling at me and for shaping me into a better woman. Thank you for being the best mom that I have ever known.

To my dad...

Dad, I want to thank you for raising me. Thank you for being supportive of nearly every decision I have made. Thank you for putting up with my attitude and sass for the eighteen years I have been on this earth. Thank you for letting me call you at 3am just because I needed to talk. Thank you for never leaving me behind, and for helping me talk to mom when she said no. Thank you for being the best dad that I have ever known.

To my brother...

Thank you for being a brat. Thank you for fighting with me both with our words and the occasional brawl. Thank you for keeping me on my toes and arguing with me over the everything, especially the TV remote. Thank you for giving me someone to cheer on at the sports I could never do. Thank you for being you, and not just living in your big sisters shadow. Thank you for being the best little brat I have ever known.

To my grandparents...

Thank you for showing me what love is. Papa, thank you for playing Uno with me and for taking me on every golf cart ride imaginable. Thank you for loving my grandma since the moment you met her. Thank you for flunking the fourth grade so that you two could graduate together. Grandma, thank you for letting me set your table every meal and thank you for playing dress-up with me every day. Thank you for being the best grandparents that I have ever known.

To my friends from home...

I want to thank you all for being there for me throughout my most awkward of stages. Thank you for hanging out with me and watching Harry Potter until the break of dawn. Thank you for lifting me up after every fall, both literal and metaphorical. Thank you for putting up with my crazy texts at all hours of the day/night. Thank you for being the best friends from home that I could have ever known.

To my Delta Zeta family...

Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for bringing me into your home with welcome arms. Thank you for letting me sleep on the front couch every single weekend until I moved in. Thank you for putting up with my random dancing and horrible stepping throughout the house. Thank you for laughing at me when I fall. Thank you for cheering me in dodgeball and keeping me calm. Thank you for giving me every t-shirt that I never needed. Thank you for going out with me on the weekends and singing JB at the top of our lungs. Thank you for letting me record you and exploit you for my Snapchat story. Thank you for loving me and being the best sorority I could have ever asked for.

To my forever fam...

Thank you. Thank you guys for being more than just five girls that are apart of my sorority family tree. Thank you for being my support system and keeping me grounded. Thank you for hanging out with me and not being embarrassed when I wear groutfits. Thank you for shamelessly eating six Fitz cookies and taking a few to-go. Thank you for crafting me the most thug canvases out there, and supporting my pineapple obsession. Thank you for the car rides to Walmart and for the Lees Summit trips just for Chipotle. Thank you for letting me scream the lyrics to "Sugar, We're Goin' Down" every single time that I take your aux cord. Thank you for telling me I look pretty even when I don't. Thank you for letting me crash on the Trap Couch, and making me mac at 3 AM. Thank you for our pump-up jam sessions when we are getting ready. Thank you for giving me way too many pictures, I mean far more than my data plan can handle. Thank you for holding me when I cry, and laughing at me for just about everything I do. Thank you for being the best forever fam that I have ever known.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
