Spring break – to the average college student it entails having a good time, preferably in a warm location, with fun memories and fun people. However, my spring break is drastically different, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’m so excited to be home for a whole week because that means seven whole days of bliss with my best friends AKA my puppies. That’s right. My wet nosed, wiggly tailed, slap happy little ladies. I have never been so jazzed to spend seven days with my pals doing almost absolutely nothing too overly fancy.
There is no one who is more excited to see me than my four legged friends. From the moment that I arrived at my front door, they were there; so happy to see me, as if no time had passed at all. It was as if I hadn’t been gone for two months. It’s like I had left five minutes ago, and nothing was different. It’s the best feeling in the world.
Within the first five minutes, I’m covered from the waist down in Labrador retriever fur, and my face has been thoroughly licked clean by a dog tongue. To the normal person, this act would probably be super disgusting, but to me, there has never been a happier experience.
Later on we’ll chill on the couch binge watching whatever Netflix show I am watching at the moment, and they never complain — even if I’m already four episodes into season two. They’ll just relax peacefully on my chest, or by my feet, and it is pure, dog-induced bliss. And they only beg a little for me to share my snacks with them…
I don’t need a plane ticket to a warm location, because the love from my puppies fills my heart with warmth. I don’t need glow in the dark parties and boys because I have a set of big brown eyes staring up at me already. It’s such a great feeling — being the world to someone, and they’re my world as well.
So this spring break, I’ve never had a better time relaxing and not having to think about my ever-growing To-Do list. I can just spend every afternoon with my best friends. They don’t care if I’m not wearing makeup, they don’t care if I haven’t washed my hair in two days. They don’t care if I spilled ice cream on my pants and refused to clean it off. Heck, they love me for who I am. I don’t need to impress them at all. Their love is unconditional.
I am not trying to diminish anyone else’s fantastical spring break, I’m simply stating just how much I love my #SB2K16. And there’s no place I’d rather be, than on my couch with my best pals by my side.
