The Ultimate Breakup Playlist

"When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead." - Barney Stinson

The Ultimate Breakup Playlist

Sadly, I can say from personal experience that breakups are the worst.

But I've learned that music can be the best medicine for heartbreak. I've made the ultimate breakup playlist for every stage of your breakup to help you along the way. Think of me as that one friend from middle school that's really awesome at making mix CDs. I got you.

For those moments when you want to cry it out:

Say Something - A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera

This is one of the most beautiful songs of the new decade. Even when you're not in your feelings, a tear may shed. Don't worry about it. The song's the perfect equation of incredible vocals + majestic beat + a haunting finale. Whenever you need to have a good cry, this song will give you the chance to do so.

Wrecking Ball - Miley Cyrus

Don't sleep on Miley Cyrus. Even though she's usually in the news for her lack of clothing, the girl can really sing. This ballad really proves it and it's lyrics are very relatable. This is the perfect song for blasting in the car and belting as you drive down the street. Nobody'll judge. And if they do? Forget em.

Breakeven - The Script

10/10, definitely recommend. It perfectly describes the emotional imbalance that a relationship can turn into. If you don't think anybody understand what you're going to, The Script knows.

For those moments when you're starting to realize that the breakup may be a blessing in disguise:

Me, Myself, and I - Beyonce

There is a Beyonce song for every stage of a relationship. But, this one is one of my favorites. I love the lyrics where she talks about "being her own best friend". Being alone doesn't have to mean that you're lonely. Take this time to learn more about yourself, because you're awesome.

Fighter - Christina Aguliera

This song is super empowering. I have it on a couple of my Spotify playlists. The beat hits hard and it's going to have you air guitar-ing in your room for days. You're a fighter! You got this!

Apologize - Timbaland feat. One Republic

It's too late to apologizeeeeee, it's too laaaaaate!

Apologize is perfect for a sing-along. I still love this song even though it came out way back in 2005.

For those moments where you're ready to party and you couldn't care less about what's-his-or-her-face:

Zero - Chris Brown

This recently released song is so dope. The lyrics are great and the beat is super dance-able. Let them know how you feel: "you've found somebody better, like I've never met ya..."

Best Thing I Never Had - Beyonce

Remember when I said that there was a Beyonce song for every stage of a relationship? I wasn't joking. But, this one's great as well. "I bet it sucks to be them right now..."

Forget You - Cee Lo Green

The ultimate "forget you" song. Obviously, this song is the radio edit. The explicit version arguably does pack more of a punch, but you catch my drift. I love it.

Congrats! You're on the way to getting over what's-their-face. I hope I've helped you in your emotional journey cause I know it can be hard. But just remember you're awesome! And the sadness isn't going to last forever. You'll feel like yourself in no time.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
