Building a network through a part-time job

How Uber Helps Me Network

Just this summer I picked up a part-time job with Uber. I loved the idea of being my own boss and creating my own hours. It is perfect for me as a college student, but it also has many unforeseen benefits. In the two months I have been driving, I have met countless people in college, fresh out of college, and even accomplished in business. The knowledge they bestow upon me is worth a pretty penny in the real world. Every weekend, I meet someone new who exposes me to a whole new train of thought. I would recommend this job to anyone like me, in college, and trying to make ends meet yet still maintain good marks in class. More than occasionally, I deal with drunks or someone in a bad mood. This doesn't bother me because you will eventually cross paths with an individual who has been where you are and they will offer you great advice, possibly even a job. It is all about networking and a part-time job should keep you in a position to branch out and network. Meeting new people opens new doors for possibilities to occur in your life. The part I love about it is spreading positivity and making people laugh, anybody I know will tell you that about me. All of us have something special to offer and if you are looking for a job to handle while in college, Uber might be something to consider. Meeting a network of professionals is important for us in college and preparing to join the work force. Building a rapport with people is crucial in society. If you are a good person and made that good first impression, these people that I am giving rides to will ask for my business card. Most of them follow my writing, now, because of how we met and the conversation we had. Establish your foundation, create your network and make your dreams come true. Visualize that future you want to achieve and speak it into existence. Remain optimistic about everything and look at everything as an experience to learn a valuable life lesson. I know, being in college, it is hard to balance work and academics, not to mention a social life. It is hard to outline your life down to a calculated routine and execute on it day after day but putting the effort in is half the battle. The "try" is what separates our voices from the silence. Spread the good word.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
