Cat people or people who prefer cats over dogs often get referred to as "the crazy cat lady". This stereotype isn't always true, however there are some people that do go a little over board. I identify with these people and no I’m not ashamed of having a love for cats. Does that mean I’m crazy? If you ask my roommates, then yes, but that’s beside the point. Whether a cat lover is considered “crazy” or not, I believe that there is a range of cat owners. Here are the 11 different types of cat people.
1) Had a cat once.
This person had a cat growing up and will politely ask the crazy cat-lady at work about her babies. This is the least intense cat-lover.
2) Has a cat.
This person has a cat, but no one would ever know it. This cat-owner loves his or her cat, but not has reached obsession yet.
3) Has a cat and everyone knows.
This person as a cat, just one, but posts pictures of it everywhere. This person goes so far to have their Facebook profile picture as their cat.
4) Has more than one cat.
This person has no more than three cats. He or she got more after the first one so they could “keep each other company”.
5) Has cats named after people.
You thought this person’s boyfriend’s name was Ron, not their cat…
6) Has cats named after famous people.
You thought Johnny Depp was great in Pirates of the Caribbean, but not enough to name your cat after him…
7) Has many cats and pictures of all of them.
This person has over three cats and can call off their names in alphabetical order. You find that you’re impressed, but slightly worried too.
8) Has many cats and posts cat videos all the time.
You had to hide them from your newsfeed because of all the videos.
9) Wears cat apparel to the office.
Cat socks, ties, sweatshirts… it’s never ending.
10) Asks about your cat/when you’re getting a cat.
You avoid this question at all costs.
11) Everything is cats.
Cat socks, cat pictures, cat calendar, they mind as well get it tattooed on them. Maybe they do and you just don’t know it.
All joking aside, cats are great and deserved to be loved just like dogs (or more). There isn’t anything wrong with being a “crazy cat lady”. Cats happen to be that person’s thing, just like you talk about sports or your kid, so shut up.
