Tyga and Kylie Jenner: Stimulated Or Strung Out?

Tyga and Kylie Jenner: Stimulated Or Strung Out?

On August 30, rapper Tyga released the music video to his new song "Stimulated". Ever since its upload onto YouTube, the video -- starring his reality star girlfriend, Kylie Jenner -- has stirred much controversy. Not only are the lyrics to the song the topic of concern, but the music video itself has elicited a bit of concern about the couple.

Tyga, who is 25 years old, has been reportedly dating the youngest Kardashian (technically Jenner) sister, Kylie, since 2014. However, the couple had been under wraps until very shortly after Kylie’s 18th birthday on August 10, this year. This relationship between the then 17-year-old and a 25-year-old sparked controversial comments from people. One main reason for people regarding their relationship as odd, was the two-year-old son Tyga had fathered with hip-hop model Blac Chyna.

He and Kylie faced many unpleasant and unkind words about their relationship up until her birthday. Since turning 18, many have gotten over the fact that she was ‘too young’ for the relationship. In this week's issue of Galore, Kylie even mentioned that it boggles her mind that people were up in arms about what she was doing a month ago because she was too young. However, since turning 18, everyone is okay with her daily life because all of a sudden she's an adult. The "Simulated" video release, however, has reignited this controversial topic.

Most of the controversy surrounding "Stimulated" stems from the lyrics, yet also includes some of the video’s visuals. The lyrics to the song itself are sexual: "I'm stimulated / I'm at the bank, I'm penetratin’ / I'm puttin' in. I'm penetratin’ / I'm getting big, I'm stimulated” and "They say she young, I should've waited / She a big girl, dog when she stimulated.”

Public opinion on these lyrics has been pretty consistent and clear: disgust. In addition to the lyrics, the video shows Kylie as the typical ‘video vixen’, driving up in a green Bentley and stepping out in her Louboutins. Throughout the course of the video, Kylie gets a kiss on the cheek from Tyga, as well as a piggyback ride and some cuddling on a beachfront balcony. These sequences have been causing the public unease with their relationship.

Even highlighting these unimportant, repetitive news topics shades very important new aspects of celebrity lives. For example, many of you may not have known that last week Kylie had started her new #IAmMoreThan campaign on Instagram. In launching this campaign, Kylie recognized six people who have fought and triumphed over bullying to become their own hero. She will continue posting one story per week of inspiring people who have joined the fight against bullying. Kylie, who is under near constant surveillance in the public eye, admitted that she too sometimes succumbs to bullying, and intends to stop bullying.

In keeping with Kylie’s anti-bullying campaign, my personal opinion on the matter is the following: live and let live. We, the public, do not know the inner workings of their relationship, or of their feelings towards one another. One day, they may get married. Maybe, they'll break up. That is for them to decide. Tyga and Kylie are more than the unnecessary comments and unkind words spoken about them. Honestly, there is a moral that can be learned through this: if you do not have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
