Knowing a set of twins is a pretty uncommon occurrence, just as uncommon as it is to actually be a twin yourself. In 2013, it was recorded by Baby Center that every three out of 100 births are twins. Being a twin myself, I know when someone has never met a twin before due to the types of questions that they ask and the knowledge they think they know about twins. There are many things that even people who do know a lot about twins get confused about. This is a list that only twins will completely understand.

Not all twins like the same thing.

While there a few things that twins have in common with each other, that does not mean that we like everything the other likes. For example, we could both be very fond of a certain type of food, yet we may like it prepared differently.

We have our own language.

Ever since we were younger, we have been able to communicate without even using words. While it may not be as strong as when we were younger, there are some things that twins just understand when they spend so much time with someone else.

We can't see the resemblance.

For fraternal twins, when you say we look alike we don't see it. Being a fraternal twin with a boy, when people tell me that my brother and I look alike I don't know if it is a compliment or an insult.

We are our own people, stop comparing us.

Being compared to someone is the worst, especially if it's your own sibling. Constantly being asked why we can't do something as good as our twin is not necessary. Just because we are twins, doesn't mean that their strong suit is mine as well.

Having to constantly fight for attention.

When you have someone who is the same age as you going through the same stages of their life, you need to fight for your attention.

Getting something you don't like and giving it to your twin.

Sometimes we get things we don't like and instead of finding out how to return or get rid of something, you can always give it to your twin who will just be happy to get something for free. This is a great way to save money during the holiday season.

You always have someone to try new things with.

You can always do a first with a twin. You've already done your first steps, solid food, first day of school, etc. They've been by your side through all of the small firsts.

You love your twin unconditionally.

No matter what you fight over or how different the two of you are, you love your twin unconditionally. They were in your life from the very beginning and without them you wouldn't be who you are today. There's always someone who understands exact struggles of being a twin.
