I'm a 20-year-old MSU student, but I am not your average college kid. I rarely go to bars, I have never entered a frat house, I find my bed more comforting than someone else's, and I do not know what "The Walk of Shame" feels like.
1. "Hey Brooke, what do you wanna do tonight?" When I reply, "I may go out," what I really mean is, "I want to lay in bed." Seriously, just lay in my bed. It's Friday, so what? My bed does not judge my appearance, and it is always there for me. It takes care of me on my worst days. What else could I ask for?
2. "You're such a grandma." Yes, Yes I am. I wake up every day feeling refreshed, I don't know what hangovers are, and I can remember everything I did last night. I will not regret what I did the night before; I get crap done. I love being a grandma.
3. "What do you do... like for fun and stuff?" Normal things? Like I shop, read, exercise, take long baths, etc. You know, fun things.
4. "I swear you hibernate all year long." Yes, I do. I love sleep. If I could major in sleep, I would be CEO of a major company by 20. Sleep is healthy. You should try it; that way I would not have to hear about your "sleep deprivation" all the time.
5. "Hey, we are all going out tonight. Wanna come?" No, I'll pass. I have some serious plans already made at home. I'm gonna catch up on the last episode of Grey's or Scandal. But hey, call me, I'll come get you. It may take a few tries, but I'll wake up.
6. Those GroupMe's of all your friends making plans? Yep, I ignore those texts. Karaoke Wednesday sounds fun, but my bed sounds more fun. I love that you all are having a blast singing your hearts out, but how do you wake up in the morning? I'll just catch you on the flip side at maybe a normal time.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good time. There are times where I will get a spritz of energy and feel like socializing. I am just saying it's okay to fall outside the norm. Not every college kid goes out every night. The majority of students live semi-boring lives.
I have the personality of a grandma, and I love it. Remember grades are more important than your social life; they can guide the rest of your life!
