21 Movies To Watch Before You're 21

There are many movies out in society that teach valuable lessons. Specifically 21 movies that are empowering to women and should be watched before the age of 21.

  1. "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants": No matter what you go through in your life your friends will always be there for you, even if you miles apart.
  2. "Breakfast at Tiffany’s": Although independence is important, it is also important that we find our place in this world, with our people.
  3. "Frozen": As one of the only Disney fairytales that does not require a prince to save the day, it teaches women that they do not always need a man in their life.
  4. "The Help": It is possible to overcome adversity, and if kindness doesn’t kill them a little at home baking might do the job ;)
  5. "Brave": Even though you may not always agree with your mom, or parents they usually know what is best for you no matter what age you are.
  6. "The Wizard of Oz": It takes courage, a heart, and a brain to master a complicated path.
  7. "Mean Girls": We are all different, but special in our own way, and we need to work together to better the world for generations of women to come.
  8. "Alice in Wonderland": Sometimes it takes going down a rabbit hole or into the looking glass to truly appreciate who we are.
  9. "My Fair Lady": We can become anyone that we hope to be if we put in the work.
  10. "Malala": Opportunities in life are not universal; do not take advantage of the little things, because some risk their lives to get that.
  11. "Jane Eyre": Inner strength is a beautiful thing, and it is inside all of us, even if it is deep down.
  12. "Mulan": A woman can do anything and everything that a man can do.
  13. "Easy A": Lies come back, and not in a good way. It is important to always be truthful and if people do not accept you for who you are, then they are not worth it.
  14. "Pretty Woman": No matter where you come from you are important and can amount to anything.
  15. "The Secret Garden": Everyone deserves to be loved, even you.
  16. "Wild": Sometimes we need to take a step back from our hectic lives to be able to make sense of it all.
  17. "Soul Surfer": Everyone is faced with challenges, some more difficult than others, but we are able to cope and continue on with self-confidence and the support of others.
  18. "The Blind Side": You have the ability to change another person’s life for the better.
  19. "Coyote Ugly": It takes a lot of hard work to achieve what we want out of life.
  20. "Legally Blonde": Fighting for your dreams and sticking to who you are is important in the long run, and will end up paying off.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
