So one show that has flown under the radar a little is Switched at Birth. Everyone talks about Pretty Littler Liars as their favorite show, which is on the same network as Switched at Birth. But no one that I know besides my friend Courtney has not talked about it. Which leads me to believe that no one has heard about it if they are not talking about it.
So to give a little background about the show, it is about these two teenage girls named Daphne and Bay who were swapped at birth. They live different lives as they are growing up, but never find out they were switched until Bay is testing her blood type at school and realizes that it is not the same as her parents. So the beginning of the show is about them finding out about each other and how different they have both been living.
In season one, we discover that Daphne is deaf. She was not actually born deaf though, she had gotten really sick when was younger and that led her to become deaf. That being said, Daphne goes through a whole lot in the show because of her being deaf. When she meets Bay and the rest of the family that can hear, Daphne has to learn how to communicate with them by sign language.
Sign language is a big part of the show. It is how Daphne and her friends/family communicate. Like any other language in this world, there are parts of the language that are harder to grasp. The characters on the show have to really pay attention to each other and to what they are signing. But don't worry, when the characters are signing on the show there are subtitles that pop up on the screen so you will understand what they are saying!
Lastly, this show not only is unique because of the sign language, but it has lots of drama!! So you will never feel like you are not being entertained. There are plenty of love triangles and fighting that occurs during the show and its seasons. There are 4 seasons, and the 5th is on right now, so there is time to catch up! So I hope you all will start to watch the show after reading this and start talking about it!
