We've officially entered the countdown to Thanksgiving, an underrated holiday, if you ask me. Thanksgiving this year is especially exciting because it falls so late on our calendar. So this year, Thanksgiving means we're just that much closer to Christmas/Hanukkah/etc.
I base most of my priorities around food, so Thanksgiving is a big one for me. I also enjoy being lazy, so basically it's my perfect holiday. There's nothing better than getting a break from school, eating a ton of homemade food, and not moving your butt the entire day.
For those of you without Thanksgiving plans, don't worry. All of this is coming from me, whose family barely even celebrates Thanksgiving. I have a super small family so it'll just be me, my parents, and my sister chillin at home. Of course, my mom will still cook, but sometimes I wish I had a bunch of crazy cousins and fun grandparents and aunts/uncles to embarrass me. Of all my years doing Kilb Thanksgivings, though, I've realized that that doesn't matter.
If you are from out of state and won't be celebrating Thanksgiving this year, don't fret. You still can celebrate it! You don't need a bunch of people to celebrate Thanksgiving with you (as nice as that is). Just focus on the laziness and food…you can do that with any amount of people! (Super inspirational, right?!)That sounds completely sarcastic, but I'm kinda serious. I really just love the food and being lazy. And despite what Charlie Brown's been teaching us all these years, maybe Thanksgiving really is about the food and being lazy. Well okay that's not what it's about, because it's really supposed to be a time to be thankful. But I just mean the actual festivities of the day. I mean think about it. Having a bunch of people to celebrate with is obviously super awesome and I'm all about family time. But all I'm saying is if that's not an option for you, that doesn't mean you can't do Thanksgiving right!I usually consider myself an optimist, so I'm not trying to rip on Thanksgiving. In fact, I'm attempting to do the opposite. We have a few weeks to go, but I just want to get every one excited for this wonderful day, no matter how you choose to celebrate it.
