When I found out that Tulsa, Oklahoma was opening a restaurant that consists of mainly cereal, I was beside myself. I loved cereal growing up, but I especially love cereal as a college student. It's an easy meal and definitely a go-to on weekends, when we don't get meals at the sorority house. This restaurant is called "Bowl-n-Spoon Cereal Bar," and my friend and I drove two-and-a-half hours on Saturday, July 9 to try it out.
Saturday was its grand opening. As you can guess, it was a little crowded. And by "a little" I mean very. It was very crowded. We waited in line for an hour and a half. During this hour and a half, we chatted about different things and enviously spied on customers eating random combinations of cereal.
Surprisingly, Bowl-n-Spoon also has food besides cereal. They serve not only cereal, but Belgian waffles, stacks of Pop Tarts with toppings, oatmeal, a variety of paninis for lunchtime, and bacon covered in brown sugar that you can dip in maple syrup. My friend who I went with actually got the Pop Tart stack. It looked awesome, if you are a fan of Pop Tarts. Personally, I am not, but she definitely loved what she ordered.
After an hour and a half of waiting, we were nearing the front of the line. I had not realized how many cereal options there were! Let's just say, it's a good thing I had already made up my mind because I was very overwhelmed at the sight of over thirty different types of cereal. There were also many toppings that you could put on your cereal, like marshmallows, fruit, and chocolate chips. Oh, and might I mention, for a small fee you can upgrade your cereal milk to chocolate, strawberry, rice, soy, or almond milk.I ordered a small bowl of cereal with Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, and Peanut Butter Crunch. Some may say that's an odd combination, but it was a great decision. I love cinnamon, I love chocolate, and I love peanut butter. Together it made the perfect blend of sugar, carbs, and deliciousness.Oops, I forgot to mention that I also ordered the bacon covered in brown sugar that you dip in maple syrup. My friend and I were curious, and we were starving after driving two-and-a-half hours then waiting in line for one-and-a-half, so I thought, "Hey, why not." What an incredible decision.Overall, my experience at Tulsa's new go-to spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner was one I'll never forget. I will mainly never forget it because when I move back to Tulsa to go to school next month, I plan on going all the time. It's inexpensive with a really fun atmosphere. Maybe the line will die down in the next month, but if for some reason it continues to be that busy, I will most definitely brave the line over and over to get a bowl full of my favorite breakfast of all time.
