Going to school in Syracuse, NY definitely made me realize the things I miss about Boston and what makes someone a Bostonian. Boston is a city that is unlike anywhere else. What makes us the best city is that we are filled with history and have people who are truly proud to be Bostonians. Here are a couple ways to identify if you are a Bostonian or not.

1. You are proud to say that Boston is and forever will be the best city.

Between all of the history, people and beautiful neighborhoods—what's not to love?

2. Park the car in the Harvard yard is not always a thing.

The first thing I heard when I tell someone I'm from Boston is "Omg say park the car from the Harvard yard". We've all faced it and we all know there's nothing more annoying.

3. Marathon Monday is its own holiday.

What's better than millions of people getting together for one day to watch people race and be proud of people's accomplishments?

4. Whether we like it or not, we do run on Dunkin.

If there are Dunkin Donuts at every corner, then that's when you know you're in Boston.

5. If you're like me, it can be -6 degrees and you would still get an iced coffee instead of a hot latte.

6. We know our sports teams are the best.

Whether it's the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, or Bruins—we have the best teams and you will have one favorite.

7. Fenway

Whether you go to Fenway to watch the game or just for an amazing Fenway Frank, the second you walk into the stadium, you feel like you're home.

8. 55 mph is not the speed limit

The amount of times you will see someone driving 55 mph is slim to none. And if they are you can count on someone honking at them multiple times because the speed limit is never 55.

9. Mike's Pastry is the only place to get a cannoli.

If you love cannoli's then you are loyal to the one and only Mike's Pasty. If you've never been- please go.

10. We are Boston Strong.

Living in a city like Boston is living in a city with people who care.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
