New Year’s Resolutions: they always seem like a better idea than they actually are. Every year, millions of people around the world convince themselves that this year will be different. They will eat healthier, work out more, not procrastinate, accomplish whatever it is that they have been putting off for the last five years. Lasts year’s resolution has long been forgotten, but it is okay. This year will be different. This year you will actually stick to your goals. It is the year of change, at least that’s what we always tell ourselves.
The stages of New Year's Resolutions go as follows:
1. New Year's Eve
Sure, tonight you are probably going to drink a lot tonight and do too much that will be regretted tomorrow, but it is fine because tomorrow you will get your life together.
2. New Year's Day
You are most likely hungover and embarrassed about last night. You need food and water and are praying you will be able to keep it down. Today is the day when you decide what your new year's resolution will be.
3. The first day of your RESOLUTION
You feel great. You're ready to take on the year and anything it throws at you. You are ready to be a new person. This year you are DEFINITELY going to stick to your resolution.
4. You're doing GREAT
Look at you. You haven't eaten a carb in two weeks and you've been to the gym everyday. And to add to that you have worked ahead for the whole week. You feel amazing!
5. The first day of doubt
Those fries look really good and you worked out yesterday so you should be able to reward yourself. You should eat kale chips but those fries look so much better.
6. Treat Yo' Self 2017
This week was very hard and stressful. You deserve one of those cupcakes that Julia brought in. It is fine, you will just run an extra mile at the gym today.
7. The doubt begins to build
The Netflix show you have started to distract you from your grumbling stomach is too intense. Looks like you have to skip the gym today to finish the rest of the season.
8. Jealously
Seeing other people succeed at fulfilling their resolutions just makes you feel bad about yourself. You need to get motivated. You're going to look better than that girl in a bathing suit. It's go time!
9. Self-Discipline
You must get back into your routine. This was supposed to be a year of change. Sure you had a momentary lapse of judgment and control but now you will be good again. Don't give up yet.
10. Everything goes to shit
Stress, hunger, sleep, being human. You are officially a failure of your resolution, but it's fine because you will just get your life together next year.
