Why It Is OK To Trust Your Instincts

As a young buck I was always told to go with my gut because, after all, no one knows what is best for you better than yourself. My parents always told me that my conscience was God's way of telling me what was right and what was wrong. They always instilled in me how important it is to always listen to him and follow where ever he may lead me. As I grew older I became more understanding and grateful to have been told that at such a young age, because as we all know trusting yourself isn't always easy.

Through many trials and tribulations, mistakes and bad decisions, I have learned that trusting yourself is one of the most important things to carry with you throughout your life. For me high school was the time when temptations became easily justified by, "your young" and "this is the time to make mistakes." While I do agree with that to a certain extent, I always find myself thinking back on those times and how much easier my life would have been if I would've just listened to my heart, and maybe not have rushed through my decisions making process so eagerly. Mistakes won't only be made at a young age. You live your entire life making mistakes and growing from them and learning within that process. Peer pressure at any age is always going to make us second guess ourselves. Which is why I think being able to make your own decisions and trust in those choices is so important. You may get picked on for being safe, or not being "fun," but you have your entire life a ahead of you and I just encourage anyone who is struggling with fitting in or finding themselves to just take a step back, and go with your inner feelings in situations that you may turn your head at. I always say if something is heavy on your heart it doesn't hurt to take a little extra time to think about the choice you want to make. Time is always on your side.

No matter where you find yourself in life always know that God has a plan for you. Whether there are some bumps in the road, and without a doubt there will be, he always knows what is best for you. All it takes is you listening to yourself and trusting that you have all the time in the world to go on adventures and crazy journeys. Your life as whole will be a crazy journey.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
