Wednesday February 1st marked the beginning of Black History Month, meaning President Trump was to give his first speech about the impact and importance of Black History in our country, and to put it nicely, it was awful, you can even read a transcript of it for yourself. Here are some of the reactions we all had during his poor excuse of the speech as told by the characters of Bob's Burgers.
1. When he immediately began the speech by congratulating himself.
"Well, the election, it came out really well. Next time we’ll triple the number or quadruple it. We want to get it over 51, right? At least 51." Wait hold on, you didn't even mention Black History Month in the intro to your Black History Month Speech. C'mon it's basic English.
2. When he turned his point about Martin Luther King into something about fake news.
"You read all about Dr. Martin Luther King a week ago when somebody said I took the statue out of my office. It turned out that that was fake news. Fake news." No seriously, he did that.
3. Then proceeded to vaguely mention 3 other people from Black History.
Harriet Tubman uh, Rosa Parks and yeah.. Frederick Douglass.
4. And talked about Frederick Douglass like he was still alive.
"Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more, I noticed." Did he take a history class??
5. Then made the entire middle of his speech about how great Fox News is and how CNN is awful.
"But I don’t watch CNN, so I don’t get to see you as much as I used to. I don’t like watching fake news. But Fox has treated me very nice. Wherever Fox is, thank you." He literally made the speech all about fake news.6. And went on and on about anything but black history, at his #BHM speech...
Black History Month is one month out of the year, use the other eleven to talk about your white history.
7. And yet, his supporters continue to try and convince us that he's going to be the best president yet.
Not convinced conservatives, not convinced.
Long story short, my high school English teachers would not have passed Donald Trump. He didn't even have the basic intro, body, conclusion structure that we learn in elementary school language arts. Maybe he should invest his *yuge* fortune into a speech writer.
