As the primary elections steadily approach the state of Louisiana, Republicans and Democrats alike find themselves having to make an extremely hard decision; a decision I, myself, am dreading having to make. Donald Trump is a force to be reckoned with. His non-political background and speeches about making America great again have set him apart in a politically clouded group of candidates. Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, has years of political experience. Whether or not this experience outweighs her ignorance is up to you.
On paper, both candidates have solid stands on their ideas. Unfortunately, both candidates have a common issue: being compulsive liars. Now, mind you, politicians don't exactly have an upstanding record of "speaking the truth." However, Trump isn't a politician, right? Right. Trump, not surprisingly, is ahead by a long shot in the Republican primaries with three wins so far. On the Democratic side, it seems as if Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton are evenly matched. With similar views ranging from their stance on equality to their views on religion, it seems as if their similarity would be the most difficult part of choosing between the two. As far as the polls go, Hillary seems to have the upper hand in most states. There is not a fat chance of Bernie Sanders beating out Hillary in the Democratic race. As far as delegate votes, Hillary is ahead by a staggering 434.
So, we've established that Trump and Hillary both have popularity within their individual parties. But why? The answer is simple. On the Republican side, voters are tired of politicians. They want a strong leader who isn't afraid to speak his mind and do what needs to be done. On the Democratic side, however, not much can explain why voters would want Hillary Clinton in office.
Given the scenario described above, the decision American people will have to make in the poll booths is not one of clarity. Regardless of who wins, Trump or Hillary, the task ahead of them is tremendous.
