On June 16, when Donald Trump declared his pursuit for the White House, I laughed. It seemed like Trump had finally ran out of things to spend his money on. So, why not a presidential campaign? From the beginning, everyone saw this as a joke even the major news outlets that switched his campaign news from Political to Entertainment category. The only person who took this seriously from the beginning was Mr. Trump, and from the way his campaign has been going there is a good chance that we see him sitting in the Oval Office. But that might not be the worst thing for our country because of what Trump has to offer.
1. He's an honest man, but sometimes brutally honest.
Donald Trump has always been known for speaking his mind. He is not afraid to say what he believes. Sometimes it may be a little off color, but that is what this country needs. Someone who will tell you what you need to hear and not what you want hear. His honesty and bravado have people enthused.
2. He is not a politician; he is a business man.
The slogan of Trump's campaign is "Make America Great Again" and that is a big promise, but he even said, "He is not and will not be a traditional politican." He is a business man who wants to run America like a business. He wants to adjust the tax rate and fix the unemployment. By doing so, more people will be able to make money and survive rather than live off government checks. Trump is the ultimate patriot and shows his love and support for America, so someone that loves the country he governs is worth putting in office.
3. Crisis control is something he knows all too well
In 1989, during a recession, Trump's real estate business almost went under. With millions of dollars worth of debt, he flirted with bankruptcy. When basically being broke, Trump could have given up, but he stuck with it. He paid off his creditors and raised his business from the bottom up -- again. So, imagine a crisis with our economy with Donald Trump at the helm? It would be in fine hands with his savvy business techniques.
4. He strongly believes in the American dream.
When announcing his campaign, Trump said, "Sadly, the American dream is dead. But if I get elected president, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before, and we will make America great again." He believes that everyone should believe in America because that is the only way for a country to be successful. He would boost patriotism and people will learn to become the blue collar, working class country that it once was. He touches on the idea of independence in an unorthodox way, "I don't need anyone else's money. I'm rich." This sounds rude, but he wants people to have that mentality to be independent and self sufficient.
5. He wants to reform the healthcare system.
He thinks that Obamacare premiums are increasingly too high. He wants people that get sick to be able to afford their treatment and with our current system he does not think that is possible. He wants to replicate Medicaid, but modify it. He says he can make a health care system that is, "much better."
Now, with the first GOP debate out of the way, Trump can put his policies on the forefront and the country will get to hear about his ideas on healthcare, foreign policies, and the economy. He is a man on a mission, and will be able to trump any other Republican candidate.
