Look, I wanted Hilary to win the election, but that doesn’t mean I thought she was a perfect and flawless person. I didn’t think she would live up to all of her promises she made during the campaign if elected, but I thought she was a decent option.
Yet many of the people I know and know of, who love and believe in Trump 110% can find no fault with him, despite the endless evidence. Instead of accepting some of the things he’s done and said, they choose to dismiss it as “fake news”. However, not wanting to believe something, does not mean it is fake. It makes me wonder how irrational someone must have to be to look at Trump and see an infallible man, who people will defend to the death all because they expect him to single-handedly improve the economy and bring in or create jobs.
The economy has been on the rise for a while now and unemployment has been steadily decreasing. I’m not saying this is directly or solely because of the Obama administration, but the small progress we’ve seen since the start of Trump’s presidency is not because of Trump. It’s just not possible. We are only eight months into his presidency, and while he has certainly affected policy and attitudes, the economy and the stock market cannot simply be changed or affected as quickly.
With that said, people are still convinced that his own success in business will transfer over to the country's wealth and prosperity, but the thing is that Trump has done well for himself, but has left his employees and clients/customers in the rubble. Many of his business endeavors have failed. Trump steaks, Trump wine, and Trump University all ended horribly for everyone involved except Trump. Many Americans thought Trump University would be their chance to finally earn a degree.
Men and women, mostly from lower income households, spent a very large amount of money that they could not afford to spend, but did so anyway, thinking that it was an investment in their education and future careers, but the so-called college ended up not being an actual accredited university and, therefore, could not give out degrees. Thus, everyone who ended the the “University” essentially wasted so much time and money and were never refunded for the tuition they had paid. But, Trump still profited.
So yes, Trump has managed to generate a great amount wealth for himself, but has had to declare bankruptcy on his business 4 times, and has failed both the people working with him and those seeking to purchase whatever goods and services he was offering. My point is that America is not a business and should not be treated as one. A president needs to do what is best for the country, what is best for all the diverse people that it represents, and not what is simply best for himself.
