It's not much of a surprise when Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump says something racist, xenophobic or sexist in the media, but it seems like he gets more offensive each day.
Recently, Donald Trump called for the United States to ban all travel and immigration for Muslims trying to enter the United States.
"Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on," a Trump campaign press release said.
Many political figures across the party lines denounced Trump's statements made during his campaign visit to South Carolina, including South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham who said he was "disgusted" by Trump's comments. "He's a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot," Sen. Graham said.
Democratic presidential front-runner, Hilary Clinton took to Twitter to criticize Trump's statements. "Trump’s hateful comments aren’t just an affront to our values—they’re a threat to our national security," a tweet from Clinton's official twitter account said.

While many politicians and people around the world bashed Trump's comments, there is a large section of the population that supports him.
According to a recent poll conducted by Public Policy Polling (PPP), North Carolina republicans seem to echo Donald Trump's xenophobic and Islamophobic public policy concerns with 48% of North Carolina Republicans calling for a national registry of Muslims and 35% want to see mosques in the United States shut down.
These numbers increase among North Carolina Trump supporters with 67% supporting a national registry of Muslims and 51% wanting mosques throughout the country to be shut down. 44% of his followers even believe that the religion of Islam should be illegal in the U.S.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) also admonished Trump's proposal in a press release Tuesday morning.
"Donald Trump's proposal to bar Muslims from entering our country based solely on their faith is blatantly unlawful and fundamentally un-American. We are a nation of immigrants, many of whom came to this country to escape prejudice and discrimination. We urge all of our political leaders to categorically reject this dangerous escalation of hateful rhetoric because it undermines our core American values," ACLU Executive director, Anthony D. Romero said.
Despite controversy surrounding many of his statements on the campaign trail, Donald trump continues to lead the polls for the GOP primary candidates with 31.7% of support of likely voters according to Huffpost Pollster.
