*whistles for me to come over*

Excuse me, but do you think I'm a bitch?

He looks dead at me, baffled as to what I could mean

"Nah I was whistling cuz you look good & I was tryna holla"

I roll my eyes in annoyance 'cause this boy couldn't possibly think I'd give him a second glance

Despite his dope style and fresh fade, he's a little boy that's bound to get dissed & played

See he thought it'd be endearing to catch my attention by whistling

As if that was a compliment when really to me, it was a slap in the face

Nothing but pure degradation

You whistle when you want a dog to come & unlike some, I don't respond positively to gestures not meant for me

I'm a young lady, a bronzed goddess

You may say I sound cocky but there's no need to be modest

I mean why should I be when the pure creation of life began with me

When the bosom of a black woman fed and nourished us to be magnificent like we were meant to be

So pardon me if I am not pleased or don't think it's a "good thing" when you whistle at me

The womb of the black woman bore and raised kings, but you expect me to respond happily to whistles and cat calls as if the very sound of it will make

me fall

To my knees so gracious because you acknowledged me

You noticed me enough to puff up your chest & let out a smooth breath of a whistle

Instead of approaching me like a human being, like the queen I will

one day be

Forget all the noise your boys are talking bout 'cause despite their encouragement, you struck out before you even got to hit it

Before you even got the chance to hear the pronunciation of my name, I crossed you off my list

My list of people that I give even the slightest attention whether it's a coy smile or a friendly mention

See you will not get either

How could you expect anything when you don't even respect her

Now let me teach you real quick how you should've approached her

You walk confidently with such a smooth charismatic stride filled with pride 'cause you know who you are

And you know when you've spotted a black queen even if it's from a far

No whistling is necessary

You'll carry yourself with the assurance of a king

Approach her kindly with a smile & small talk then find yourself asking for her name

You'll be surprised at how positively she'll respond & you didn't even have to spit "game"

You just had to act like the king you are and approach her like the queen she is to show her you're interested

After all, true royalty attracts just that so don't be afraid to act like it

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
