“You have a ten page paper due after thanksgiving break, MLA format, and I will not accept any late papers.” I have heard this way too often during my college career and good for me that it’s almost over. For anyone that thinks college is easy, please share your tips, because majority of college students can agree, College is stressful.

There are three options that can make or break a college student. You can maintain your social life, college schedule or sleep schedule. These days, it seems as If you can only choose two of the following. What kind of world is that? I love to be social, outgoing, and generally make new friends. Making new friends leads to networking, which gives us an opportunity to advance our personal careers. Going to class equals good discussion, A+ papers and sometimes bonus points. Getting an A is so enjoying whenever you know you worked super hard to get that A, but too many times it can be so hard to do. Oh and our sleep cycles, do I even have one? Naps are sufficient for a college student’s success, but when your friend wants to go workout at 4 p.m., what are your priorities?

Living in a world where cellphones are immediate connection with anyone you want to be, it can cause some tough decisions. Social Media apps are a prime source of procrastination; I am constantly checking my emails, messages, and swiping the next news story on CNN. I agree, maybe we should put the phone down to study. However, if you like to listen to music, like many do, what are your options. I don’t think many own a boom box anymore, but maybe we should look into it.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle has been the struggle. No matter how many hours you spend studying or socializing it becomes “okay” to slack in the dinner department. Little Caesars or Cookout make a value meal look even better, and if you’re often on the go, it makes perfect sense. Spending five dollars has become the alternative, and I am really seeing the results. Not only are we sleepy, but we are consuming some pretty unhealthy foods. Being on the verge of hangry and sleepy may be my least favorite thing. Although, today I am fed, I’ll have to work off those extra calories tomorrow. This is the root of the “freshman fifteen”, and I am constantly reminding myself that I will not become one of them. College however, makes a nights rest harder to obtain, and a good meal harder to come by.

This college semester has been a struggle, and I can see it on all of our faces. We are tired, we are hungry and most importantly we want our friends. We also want that A though, because we know we have to pass our classes to be something one day. If you are one to have excellent Time Management skills, please enlighten us with your amazing abilities. Maybe, just maybe, the rest of us should start to prioritize our lives just like you. I’ll get to that though, probably next semester. Everyone, you can breathe again, Fall 2015 is over and Spring 2016 is right around the corner. Take some time for yourself, because I’m sure come January we will have another ten page paper due.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
