"Your total will be $72.84" the woman behind the register exclaims as I am staring at my piece of plastic with a smile on my face, but slowly dying inside.
"Why do I do this to myself? Did I really just need to buy that? Will I ever even wear it?"
It happens every time: the lust for something you see and grab for it immediately, clutching onto it for dear life until you've scoured every square inch of the store. While browsing the store's selection, you begin to grab at everything that you may wear/use for only a mere few minutes, and then push it aside for months at a time.
You walk out the mall with your head held high and bags from American Eagle, Victoria's Secret, LUSH, Forever 21, and Bath and Body Works tightly in your grasp. You arrive home, plop the bags every so proudly on your bed, and begin to think "do I even have enough room for all of this crap in my closet?"
Ah, the struggle some of us face: the life of a shop-a-holic. It is a serious problem.
When you and your friends are bored, what is typically the first thing that comes to mind?
Let's go walk around the mall!

What's this? 8 for $28 at Aerie? I know where I am- wait, what? AND BOGO swim apparel?!
And so the adventure begins...
You see a dress you are just dying to have and have been dying to buy for the past week. You run for the mannequin, and search up and down on every rack to find this dress.
After 10 minutes of searching, you finally ask an employee.
The words you hear shatter your heart.
"Sorry, but we are out of stock of that dress."
To make up for your loss, you buy the second best dress- the one that you claim you'll wear just as much as the one you wanted- but only wear it for one bonfire, and then never put it back on.
Off to the next (eight or nine) stores!
You make up an excuse for every little thing you touch, understanding that you may not need it, but you just have to have it.
Typically, "I'm treating myself" is the most commonly used excuse.
Heading home!
You check your bank app on your phone, and see just how much you bought today. You die a little inside, but pick yourself up and try on the new Sephora lipstick you bought and that second best dress you already forgot about.
And then you remember "I get paid Friday!"
And if you can't make it out to go to the mall, at least all of the stores are online!
True life: you have a problem.
