True Life: I'm A College Grandma

I know I'm not alone in this old lady behavior.

I’m in my second year of college and I have come to the conclusion that I am more of a grandma than I should be at this point. No, I don’t hate fun. But it’s not surprising to find me in bed before 10 o’clock or drinking a hot cup of tea. I know I’m not alone in this old lady behavior. If any of these things sound like you, welcome to the grandma life. It’s not all that bad!

1. You go to bed before 10 p.m. at least once a week.

2. You wake up already wanting to go back to bed.

3. You drive either really fast or really slow but either way you’re a terrible driver.

4. You’re always the one trying to take care of people.

5. You get cold really easily.

6. You love cooking and baking for your friends.

7. You’ve tried to take up knitting, sewing or crocheting at least once in your life.

8. Your favorite TV shows are ones on HGTV or Food Network.

9. If your friends talk you into going out, you’re tired and ready to go home by midnight.

10. You keep a stack of books beside your bed.

11. You own a full matching pajama set.

12. You get annoyed with people really easily.

13. You save even small amounts of leftovers.

14. Your friends call you “mom” or “grandma” all the time.

15. You’re always worrying about your friends.

16. Cracker Barrel is one of your all time favorite restaurants.

17. You keep plants in your dorm room or apartment.

18. Technology is not always easy.

19. You're dedicated to shopping at Hobby Lobby.

I love a fun night with my friends. I'll admit that sometimes I'm the one encouraging them to go out but the older I get, the more the grandma life makes sense. I know I'm not alone in this!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
