I don't really know when my caffeine addiction began, or when a casual caramel iced coffee became a necessity for any kind of productivity, but it's now very much a reality of life. If you are also a coffee addict, you'll be able to relate to these facts of the caffeine life.
1. Coffee is automatically built into your day.
Have an 8 AM class? Consider it a 7:45 because there's no way you'll make it through without at least a cup.
2. Starbucks and Dunkin are nowhere near the same.
For example, I can easily down a medium iced coffee from Dunkin and feel alert, but a Starbucks iced coffee makes me feel like I was recently electrocuted.
3. As a coffee addict matures, so does his/her taste in coffee.
I fondly recall my early days as a young high school coffee enthusiast when I would order a caramel iced coffee light and sweet (something that would now make me cringe and want to immediately brush my teeth to remove the sugar). As a matured coffee connoisseur, I take my coffee with a flavor shot and some milk, maybe cream if I'm feeling fancy. Like many, I can trace my love for coffee back to the classic Coolatta/Frappuccino.
4. Coffee breath is just inevitable.
Just accept that this is the way your mouth smells now.
5. Coffee doesn't count as a purchase.
It's easy to justify a $3 cup of happiness. Coffee money adds up slowly, so you can basically ignore the grand total and focus on those little individual prices.
6. That kick of caffeine is totally worth it.
Is there anything better than walking to class on a caffeine high, feeling completely in control of life (the exact opposite of how you feel before coffee)?
7. Coffee is basically your new best friend.
Congratulations! By being a caffeine addict, you now have a life-long companion, because, let's face it: you're never going to stop.
