If you're like me, you might be single this Valentine's Day. That is okay though. This is the first time in a few years that I have been single, but it has helped me reflect on a few things. I've realized that I don't need a man to make me happy. I've realized that my friends are always there for me. I realized that I have to love myself before I try to love someone again.
This Valentine's Day, I will probably be spending quality time at the library. This doesn't sound like a lot of fun, but it's bringing me closer to my future goals. Sometimes you have to do whatever will make you happy. It's one of the busiest times of the year for college students because of all the midterms that are coming up.
That's why I have decided I am going to see "50 Shades Freed" with some girls in my sorority a few days before. What's better than watching a movie filled with drama and romance with your best friends? I can't think of anything better. It might be a hard week, but I am thankful for the people who will make it less stressful.
Even though people think this holiday is for all the people in relationships, it's okay to make it all about yourself. If you really want a pint of ice cream, then go buy yourself a pint. If you want to have a spa night because your acne has been crazy lately, have a spa night. You DO deserve it. We are so young and need to stop caring about if we have a significant other or not. We are worth so much more than that.
Take some time to reflect on the current friendships you have in your life. You should be getting the same amount that you are giving others. If someone in your life isn't lifting you up and helping you become a better person, it may be time to let them go. Love isn't just in the romantic sense, but in the friendship sense as well. What is love to you?
