It's the little things.

American Things You Miss While Abroad

This summer I spent around 2 months total abroad, with Mexico, Switzerland, and Bosnia being my destinations. While these places are ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL and pictures do absolutely zero justice to their beauty, there are some typically American things that I missed!

Air conditioning

LORD, this is the main thing I missed. Being in a country where AC is not a thing makes you appreciate it.

Outlets

The outlets in Europe are different!!! The shape, the voltage, everything. Their outlets are circular (??? why can't we just have standard outlets???). The electricity is 220V, but American is 110V, which means that if you try to use an adapter for your straightener, IT WILL OVERHEAT AND BREAK!!!!! LEARNED THIS THE HARD WAY!!!!!!!!!

Your pals

Traveling is a privilege and honor, but homesickness is real and so missing your closest friends.

Your bed

'Nuff said.

Your routine

This is a little weird, but trust me, when you've been jet-setting around the world, sometimes it gets so tiring that you can't wait to be home and doing your everyday routine.

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

bruce springsteen album cover born in the usa

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.
