More often than not we think of traveling as a vacation from our daily lives. It's something that only lasts for a short amount of time before we tell ourselves that it's time to go "back to reality." We don't think of travel as an experience. It's something that is all about relaxing or sticking to a schedule to get all the stops in, and we often don't take the opportunity to think about what traveling really is. Sure, it's a vacation, but it's also an adventure and opportunity to learn something new.

1. "Travel sparks our imagination, feeds our curiosity, and reminds us how much we all have in common." -Deborah Lloyd

The world is much smaller than we think.

2. "Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow." -Anita Desai

Every place you visit is going to impact you in one way or another. Allow yourself to make memories that stick with you forever.

3. "Traveling- it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a story teller." -Ibn Battuta

Share your experiences with others. You have no idea what adventure you are inspiring the other person to go on.

4. "One travels to run away from routine. That dreadful routine that kills all imagination and all our capacity for enthusiasm." -Ella Mailart

It is easy to get caught up in our daily lives. Take a break from your normal routine, even if it means just exploring your hometown. You never know what adventure awaits you.

5. "Travel is like knowledge. The more you see, the more you know you haven't seen." -Mark Hertsgaard

Remember in #1 when I said that the world is smaller than we think? It's also bigger than we could ever imagine. When you cross one place off your bucket list, you are going to be adding a dozen more.

6. "Traveling is more than having a destination in mind; it's discovering a place in your heart." -Mark Amend

You may be traveling to one place, but you never know where life is going to take you.

7. "Traveling is like flirting with life. It's like saying, 'I would stay and love you, but I have to go; this is my station.'" -Lisa St. Aubin de Teran

So many places to go...

8. "Travel isn't always pretty. It isn't always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that okay. The journey changes you- it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully... you leave something good behind." -Anthony Bourdain

It's more than nice hotels, and expensive restaurants. It's not about doing all the touristy things or getting the perfect picture. It's an experience- one that you can learn and grow from.

9. "To move, to breathe, to fly, to float, to gain all while you give, to roam the roads of lands remote... to travel is to live." -Hans Christian Andersen

"... to travel is to live."

10. "Travel is not a reward for working, it's education for living." -The Travel Channel

While is more than an escape from your daily life.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
