"The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing," -Walt Disney
I've learned a lot over the past few months. I've been through hell and back, coming back stronger than I could of ever imagined. I've learned what I want and what I don't want in life and I've been learning something new about myself every single day. Being in a situation where you are controlled is never an easy situation. You feel dependent on them and you feel like if you were to leave the one who is controlling you, you would be lost and not know anything else. Well, you're wrong.
Everyday, I'm still in the process of learning about myself. One thing that I found that helped a lot was to change. Sounds cliche, yes, but a change is necessary when beginning a new chapter of your life. Going through change is difficult, because you're unsure of what you want to change. Do you want to change how you look? Do you want to change how you dress? Do you want to change your group of friends and start over? It's a lot of uneasy decisions that take a while to figure out. You may make some mistakes during this time, or you may make some changes that you want to keep permanently. Being so young, this is where you want to figure everything out. Nothing stays the same forever.
Starting a change at a young age is very effective. Change helps build who you are, it helps shape you for YOUR future, no one else's. You can't be making decisions that effect other people besides yourself. I was engaged at age nineteen and I knew it was a mistake. I didn't want to plan a future with someone else when I didn't even know what my own future was going to hold for me. So I made a change, and I cut out my mistake. Instead of dwelling on my past mistake, I took what I learned and I moved on from it. That's key. You won't go anywhere in life if you keep dwelling on the past. You just have to keep moving forward.
Me personally, I went through a very expensive change. I didn't want to keep anything that would of reminded me of had happened. So I changed my hair, my wardrobe, my makeup, every aspect of how I looked. I started working out, eating right, doing everything I could to make myself feel better and to help me find myself. Not all change has to be expensive. You may just change the little things you do in your daily lifestyle. I'm still in the process of it all, but now I'm feeling more like myself than I ever had. Changing lets you see the world in ways you never could before. You become more positive, more outgoing, your attitude changes a little bit. Things get better through change! If you're living in the same mindset all your life, nothing good can happen. You can't be living a monotone lifestyle. Change is good, change is needed. Change is needed to be yourself.
