Transferring Colleges: What You Should Consider

College isn't always what you expect it to be. In fact, it wasn't what I expected at all. I expected to like it, to make a bunch of friends, and love living on campus. In reality, I hated college, or should I say I hated Brockport. I'm sure I'm not the only one with feelings like these and I know that other girls on my floor felt the same way. I'm the only one who did anything about it.

I'm here to tell you it's okay to not enjoy your college experience that you planned out for yourself in college. And it's 100% okay to enjoy it as well. If you do not though, why bother living miserabley for four years? Do something about it.

It's okay to transfer because you don't like your college and maybe a new one is just what you need. That's what I needed and I love my new college. Most transfer students are graduates from two year colleges, but it doesn't matter if you're not like them. It's okay for you to transfer too.

Don't worry about what people think. For me, people thought I was just doing it to see my boyfriend more. While that is nice, I transferred because I was miserable. No matter what your circumstances are, just do what makes you happy. Do not worry about others.

Personally, college is just an obligation to me, like a job. I enjoy learning, but that's all I really want to get out of college. I don't need the social aspect of college. These feelings led me to commuting, maybe that's the change you need.

Take this decision seriously though. Every freshman goes through problems settling into college. It is up to you to decide if it truly is just you finding your way or if you need to make a change.

In the end, this is a decision that is all about you. What makes you happy, what is the best choice for you, and what seems right to you. I'm so happy I transferred and you could be too. Don't let fear keep you from being happy.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
