If you were trying to cross the train tracks in Norman, Oklahoma any time after about 2:30 p.m. on September 12, odds are you weren't able to. If you live in Aspen Heights, Crimson Park, The Edge or University Greens, you heard an endless parade of sirens this afternoon as authorities rushed to the scene of a tragedy.
The reason: On Monday afternoon, a train passing through Norman struck and killed a pedestrian. Authorities have yet to release the identity of the victim.
There are rumors that the incident was a suicide attempt, but no cause has been released to the public thus far. The incident caused multiple streets in Norman to be closed off for a minimum of two hours while authorities investigated the scene. Residents of Norman and OU students are waiting patiently as more details about the wreck are released throughout the day.
Those of us here in Norman are shocked and saddened by the incident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim.
