We all crave a good story. Not the kind of story thatā€™s easily decipherable with cliche characters or overwhelming drama. The kind of shows that make your brain turn and present you with those ā€˜wowā€™ or ā€˜Ohā€™ moments. If youā€™ve been wanting to find some good shows with interesting and unique plots, here is a list for you:

5. Merlin

One of my favorite series, this show takes a new perspective to the classic King Arthur medieval tales. We follow the lives of Merlin--an untrained sorcerer--and Prince Arthur--heir to the Camelot throne--as young men struggling to understand their destinies. Living in King Utherā€™s kingdom proves to be both difficult and dangerous for Merlin since the use of magic is banned and its practicers executed. He must keep his powers hidden as he works alongside Prince Arthur to defend Camelot against seemingly endless threats. In this humorous, action-packed, and dramatic series we meet many legendary characters like Guinevere, Lancelot, and Morgana. This is one of the best shows I have ever watched, and can easily re-watch it over and over again.

4. Prison Break

As the name suggests, this story is all about breaking out of prison. But itā€™s not as simple as it sounds. Michael Scofield, an ingenious structural engineer, deliberately gets himself thrown into the same jail where his brother, Lincoln Burrows, is being held and put on Death Row for a crime he did not commit. Michael then begins executing a series of elaborate plans to break Lincoln out and prove his innocence before it's too late. This show is a great one, and its fifth season--which can be considered a stand-alone series--is coming next year. This plot is thrilling, inspiring, and always leaves you wanting more.

3. Shetland

If you enjoy realistic murder mysteries with a strong plot that is difficult to decipher, you will like Shetland. Taking place in the stunning atmosphere of the Shetland Isles, the show follows the Detective Inspector Jimmy Perez and his team uncovering the crimes within the closely-knit community of their Scottish archipelago.

2. Stranger Things

Set in the 1980ā€™s, this mystery and science fiction thriller presents an addicting plot centered on the concept that alternate or parallel universes exist. The story begins when a 12-year-old boy named Will goes missing. Investigations are launched by the boyā€™s mother and local authorities which lead them into a tangled web of mysteries revolving around a secret government agency, their experiments, terrifying supernatural forces, and a very special little girl. This show is intriguing, refreshing, and a must watch for anyone who likes supernatural thrillers.

1. Sherlock

We have all heard of the great Sherlock Holmes and his faithful companion, Dr. John Watson. Though never before has there been such an intriguing, binge-worthy, and satisfying rendering of the famous consulting detectiveā€™s adventures. Every episode is like an engaging and hilarious movie--seriously, some episodes are over an hour and a half long--that delves into a contemporary adaptation of Sherlock Holmes in modern-day London. It is no wonder why there is such a huge following to the show, and why people are dying for the newest season to air. I definitely am.

If you would like to watch any of these wonderful shows, they are all available online and on Netflix.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
