Everyone talks about how excited they are to go home over Christmas break. It’s a time where we don’t have to worry about any more school, papers, or tests, and we could focus on our newest Netflix season and our mom’s cooking. However, sometimes, a month of that might be a little boring.
So when Netflix and chilling just isn't cutting it, here are the top 10 most interesting (but fun) things to do over Christmas break.
- Take a trip to the snow: If you’re blessed to live within two hours of snow, this trip will definitely be worth it. There are so many things to do: build a snowman, have a snowball fight, snowboard, etc.
- Go on a hike: Hike somewhere you’ve never been. Even if you have been over the summer, sometimes the hikes look a lot different in the winter time.
- Pretend you’re engaged, and try wedding cake: My guy friend asked me to do this about a month ago. What’s better than free cake anyway?
- Play left right center: This is when you drive with your friends, and at random times your friends yell “left!” “right!” or “center!” and that is where you will go. My friends and I did this last year, and we ended up at this old train in the middle of nowhere (pictured below). Tip: Make sure your gas tank is full.
- Spend a day in the city: Sometimes my friends and I love to get out of our small town and spend the day window-shopping in Seattle. Especially at Christmas, there is so much to do.
- Fake wedding dress shop: I guess wedding fever is in the air, because everybody is getting married. My friends and I decided that why not try on wedding dresses, because it is never too early to start looking.
- Play mafia on a Christmas tree farm: Even if it is not dark, Christmas tree farms allow for lots of hiding spots, and a lot of places to escape too.
- Splurge on a nice dinner: Sometimes, it’s fun to get dressed up, and go out to a dinner that you know you actually can’t afford. But splurging on one dinner usually won’t kill your bank account.
- Fake a proposal: My friend did this once with one of her friends. If you’re going to do it, do it at a restaurant and who knows, maybe you’ll get some free ice cream or something.
- Have a Cookie Exchange: My family has done this previous years. We all make different cookies, and after they’re all baked, we each take a couple of each. That way you have a variety of cookies to eat over the break.
