This year, Spotify released an individualized playlist for all their members that consisted of the music that that person listened to the most that year. I just thought I would share with everyone some of my top listened to (and clearly favorite songs) from this year.
1. "Bird Set Free" by Sia
I absolutely love this song. I have been obsessed with this song since I saw Dalton Rapattoni sing it on American Idol earlier this year. The message behind this song just means so much to me.
2. "Technicolor Beat" by Oh Wonder
Oh Wonder is band that I don't think many people have heard of but you need to check them out! Every song by them is better than the last. I was also able to see them perform live at Lollapalooza and it was amazing.
3. "Youth" by Troye Sivan
Anyone who is close to me knows that I have an unhealthy obsession with Troye Sivan. I blame my obsession on not being truly obsessed with anyone as a kid so it came out during my teenage years. I love Troye so much I have seen him in concert twice and both times were incredible. The only reason his album Blue Neighbourhood isn't all of my top listened to songs is because I also have all his songs downloaded on my phone through iTunes.
4. "What You Know" by Two Door Cinema Club
This song just puts me in an amazing mood and I have no idea why. It's super fun and upbeat. I also saw them at Lolla and it was absolutely incredible.
5. "Flaws" by Bastille
This is another song that I truly love the meaning of. I know it's kind of an old song but really love it. I also saw them at Lolla and it was so good! (Are you seeing the correlation between Lollapalooza and my top songs? I am.)
6. "Roses" by MacKenzie Bourg
MacKenzie sang this song on American Idol (what? I loved American Idol and I'm so sad it's over) for one of his many auditions and even though they only showed a small part of it then, I was instantly obsessed. When he released this full version of the song, I was ecstatic.
7. "Alexander Hamilton" from the musical Hamilton
For graduation, my parents gave me two tickets to Hamilton in May. So after my best friend Brittyn and I saw it, I have been listening to the music Nonstop (haha get it, Nonstop).
8. "History" By One Direction
I wouldn't consider myself a Directioner but I definitely wouldn't consider myself not a Directioner. I love this song because to me it's like a promise that One Direction is forever. Also I cried while watching the music video to this song.
9. "Hymn For The Weekend" by Coldplay
I love Coldplay so much. Like if I was to name my top three artists, they would be Adele, Troye Sivan, and Coldplay. This song also has Beyonce on it so it's perfect.
10. "Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane
In the summer of 2015, I was reintroduced to this song while I was studying abroad in Oxford and I haven't turned it off since. I know every word to this song and I sing it loudly every time.
11. "i hate you, i love you" by Gnash
This song has some of the most amazing lyrics that I have ever heard. I don't know why I love them so much because they are kind of stupid but I just really relate to this song and love it.
