Sometimes it seems like being a girl is 9,000 times harder than being a boy. I thought I would make a list of the reasons why. Hopefully, you'll find this as entertaining to read as I did writing it. I know boys face struggles too, but you know how the old saying goes. "The grass always looks greener on the other side."
1. Guys can wear anything and get away with it.
Seriously, what is up with this? They can be dressed in a three-piece suit or the t-shirt and sweatpants they found on the floor from last week and rock it. But when I put on a comfy flannel and sweatpants, I'm not rockin' it. I just look homeless.
2. Short hair is totally acceptable.
I cut my hair to boy short length once because I passionately hate it long, and people told me I looked like a boy (no joke--people are rude). I call it a "shoulder blanket" when it gets too long. When it's long, it holds in too much heat, gets all tangled, gets stuck in my glasses, falls in my food, and takes forever to dry. Why can't I chop it off and live in peace, people? Sigh.

3. Dresses are a pain.
If I can't wear pants underneath it I don't own it. End of story. The last thing on my mind is sitting like a lady when I have 19 teenagers to look after. Unfortunately for a woman, "dressed up" in everyone's mind is equal to wearing a dress. I still rock those tapered leg khakis and a blazer, though. No dresses here. Growing up all I heard was "don't sit like that," and "sit like a lady."
4. Body image is a struggle.
Do I even really need to mention this? I know guys struggle with it too, but in some ways I think they have the advantage because society isn't talking about it constantly. Can we just talk about all the dumb body trends for a second? Thigh gaps, waist trainers, the Kylie Jenner lip challenge--these are just a few of the dumb things women (and girls) do in order to achieve that "perfect body." Skinny, tall, average, fat, short, tan, curvy, pale--who really cares? You do you.
5. Girl stuff is a pain in the neck.
Sorry to any boy who decided to read this, you might want to skip this one. Bras are the bane of our existence. I must have to push my bra straps back up a thousand times a day and when I'm finally in the house for the night, it has got to go. Periods are also the worst thing ever. Cramps can make functioning normally a chore. Not to mention all the PMS jokes about our food cravings, mood swings, being too hot or too cold, basically anything.
Can you think of any other reasons you'd rather be a boy sometimes?
