Midterms is upon is. This is the week(s) where you study every night until the wee hours of the morning, accidentally sleep in and then rush to your campus bookstore to buy Scantrons five minutes before your exam, drink your weight in coffee, and constantly eat either granola bars or chips, because eating a full meal is near impossible. Quite possibly, this is the worst time to be alive. Contrary to popular belief, you can still have a great weekend, even in the midst of midterms. Here are the top five things to do with your weekend!
1. Go on midnight adventures with a group of friends.
I understand, you’ve been up and going since seven in the morning. You haven’t been able to take a break and have only had one meal. Understandably, you’re tired. This is the perfect time to go hard in anticipation of your second wind comes.
Fill up your gas tank, grab a bunch of friends, and drive.
Get food, crank up the tunes, maybe find a beach or park that is open. Let go and let the night take you!
2. Bring some of your closest friends to your home for the weekend.
Get some friends, and just get off campus. You need a break, even if it’s only for a day or two. Tell your momma you’re coming home, road-trip to the city of your birth, and be comforted by the atmosphere of being in a real house.
And let’s be real, your mom probably loves having “kids” over at her house, since she is an “empty-nester.”
3. Go to the beach.
In the words of the ever wise, Nicki Minaj, “Let’s go to the beach, each. Let’s go get away.” As a culture, we may not always agree with what Minaj says, but I think it’s safe to say that going to the beach is a good way to spend your weekend. Spend your weekend wiggling your toes into the sand, yelling at over-zealous seagulls, and falling asleep to the sound of the crashing waves.
4. Make food.
Living at school does not often allow for you to have a wide variety of foods. You’re not always in control of what you eat, so take some time this weekend to make some good, home-cooked food! Gather all of the ingredients necessary at your local grocery store, find a stove, and begin creating your culinary masterpiece! Explore the beauty of food and create something you never thought a college student--like yourself--could make!
5. Relax.
Just take some time to settle down and relax. Cozy yourself up with a soft blanket and pop in your favorite flick! Pick up that book you haven’t had the chance to get back to! Binge eat all of your favorite foods! Or just take some time catching up on sleep!
Take a load off this weekend and forget about your midterm results. Whatever you do this weekend, make sure to spend some time having fun!
