These are just the peak of the mountain, though.

They say by listening to one's playlist you can learn more about them than by having a two-hour conversation after midnight. I'm a bit skeptical about this since people have shown me some of their playlists before and most of the songs are mainstream.

However, I am not trying to bash anybody this time with my passive aggressive comments. Instead, I am here to show you some of my favorite songs in hope to open doors to your musical taste. I can say I listen to different styles, but I'm more into the alternative/indie/pop/punk/rock universe. You get what I'm saying? No? Don't worry; me neither.

Anyways... Here are some of my favorite songs.

1. Serotonia by Highly Suspect

"I can feel it too/ So what am I waiting for/ I'm afraid of you"

This became one of my favorite songs mainly for the opening lyrics, which I tend to belt out whenever I hear this song. And, also, there's something about the almost-two-minutes long guitar solo in the middle of the song that is just so relaxing. It helps me ease my mind all the time.

2. What's Wrong by PVRIS

"I know it's so wrong, but I'm so far gone/ Don't need for you to tell me I'm so cynical"

Besides Lynn's amazing vocals in this song, the metaphors and unique diction for this song make it one of my favorites—perhaps my most favorite one being "Don't need a metaphor for you to know I'm miserable." It is kind of depressing, but the upbeat beat and guitar chords in the song make it one of the best of their newest album All We Know of Heaven, All We Need of Hell. (Really dark, if you ask me.) What's Wrong became my favorite song from this band the moment it was released. And I can pretty much relate to most of their lyrics on a spiritual level... God, this isn't good lol.

3. Drive by Halsey

"Your laugh echoes down the hallway/ Carves into my hollow chest/ Spread over the emptiness/ It's bliss"

Drive is perhaps one of my most favorite haunting tunes by Halsey. The haunting melody and her sober vocals in this song mashed perfectly—it was perfectly crafted that there had been days where I just find myself listening to this song on repeat for hours and hours and hours. Also, there's something about this song that speaks to me. California never really felt like home to me. I've dated people with whom we've just driven by the city and never really spoke about how we feel. Okay... I feel attacked by my shitty love life now.

4. Contagious by Night Riots

"I am contagious, I am breaking down/ I am nothing, I am no one's fault"

Oh, God. I remember when I found Night Riots. Their style instantly drew me in. Their EP Howl swept me into a world full of old-school vibes. I enjoyed songs such as Break, Follow You, and of course, Contagious from said EP. I don't know how to explain this song with its simple, yet deep lyrics. Travis's voice was a gift crafted by the gods of music, and every song he performs just touches something in your core that makes you want more from them.

5. Sleep on the Floor by the Lumineers

"Cause if we don't leave this town, we might never make it out/ I was not born to drown/ Baby come on"

I'm not going to lie. Choosing a favorite song from such an amazing band was one of the most difficult choices in my life—and I can assure you I've made some pretty tough choices thus far. However, Sleep on the Floor kind of gave me a message when I first heard it. There are chances we are offered, and we spend most of the time fretting what might be the outcome of such thing. But, because we spend so much time sulking on the topic, we tend to lose those opportunities. As we see on the quote above, life is about taking risks, and this song just reminds me of that. Also, the music video for this song is a masterpiece?? You should totally check the link I attached to the song's title.

Nevertheless, these are just five of my favorite, but if I were to name them all, I would not finish today. And if you choose to listen to them, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
