While 2017 may not be living up to its expectations in every way, it is definitely providing us with a large amount of new good music. The year is just half over and we have already been blessed with dozens of new albums, most of them hitting the top of the charts. Here is a recap of some of my favorite albums that 2017 has brought to us so far.
Ed Sheeran: Divide
Undeniably, this album topped the charts for weeks. This album is filled with songs that will fit all of your current moods from laying in your bed at night in a pit of sadness to driving down the highway in a car filled with your best friends.
Halsey: Hopeless Fountain Kingdom
Much like Halsey’s first album, every song on “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom” is sung straight from her heart. The album follows Halsey getting out of a toxic relationship and every song on the album is equipped with its own story and, when listened to in order, shows a larger story that ends much happier and healthier than it began.
Chainsmokers: Memories… Do Not Open
The Chainsmokers have made it so far since their release of “#SELFIE” years ago. This album shows just how much their talents have developed. On this album, they Collab with many credible artists such as Coldplay on “Something Just Like This” and Florida Georgia Line on “Last Day Alive”.
Big Sean: I Decided
Bounce Back, a song featured on this album, is a staple song to the playlist that you listen to while getting ready for a night out. Big Sean is definitely the go-to when you need a song to hype you up.
Lorde: Melodrama
Even though Lorde is only nineteen, she is filled with amazing talent that is presented in this album. The songs in this album have such strong beats and lyrics that form an emotionally attachment with her fans that have been with her since the beginning and all agree the album was definitely worth the wait.
Harry Styles: Harry Styles
The former boyband member finally released a solo album, and it was exactly what we expected. The album has a soft rock feel to it which is much different from the pure pop that we were used to hearing from this singer.
Khalid: American Teen
This album fits almost any mood to match the person who is listening to it. Khalid’s calming voice can be played in headphones on a walk to class or blare out the windows of a car during the summertime.
G Eazy and Carnage: Step Brothers EP
These two singers go together perfectly on their newly released EP, “Step Brothers”. While the album is short, almost every song on it is catchy with good lyrics and strong bass line.
Paramore: After Laughter
This album is a much different sound than the songs the band already released. The album is changed enough to attract attention from a newer audience but holds the same values as their previous music to keep their old fans interested.
