This is dedicated for anyone that lives in the desert or has lived in the desert. Here are 8 top things you know to be true when living in the desert!
11. Snowbirds!!!
As soon as hear that word, a slight chill runs down your spin… but no really! As soon as December 1 comes Snow Bird Season! People from Canada, Alaska, the midwest and Pacific Northwest make their way to Costco during the hours from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. and shopping there in itself becomes a nightmare! ( Talk about trying to find parking!)
10. Tanning!
Feeling pale during the winter months ? Go outside and tan! There's a high of 70!
9. Coachella Fest
The one and only time people come to the desert besides the snow birds! For two whole weeks in spring you can endure absurdity, horrible music (or dope music depending on your taste), endless crowds and celebrities walking in like they own the place.
8. Your hometown
When people inquire about the name of your hometown you reply “Palm Springs” because that’s the most well-known city. If you gave the real name ie, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Indio, Desert Hot Springs, Coachella, etc, non- desert people are just going to give you blank stares!
7. Rain!!
People either freak out about the rain or post about it on social media... or both!
6. Sunsets!
Don't deny it! We do have some of the best sunsets!
5. Amazing Mexican Food
Bring on the spice! The carne asada, tamales, pozole, quesdillas, etc.
4. Bill Gate’s house
Microsoft King, Bill Gates has a house in Indian Wells. And it’s pretty cool.
3. Annual BNP Tennis matches
A chance to see world class tennis players in action? Count me in!!
2. Polo Matches
Are you feeling posh? Then go to the local polo grounds, chat with important people and enjoy some classic polo matches.
1. Miserable Summers
You’re out of your mind if you plan on staying in the desert during summer! The highest will be 115 and the lowest 92. That's just SICK.
