College can be one of the most draining times because you are forced to be spread between academics, friends, family, and embracing the freedom from responsibility while it lasts. Today's college students live with the mentality that they have no control over how motivated they are; each day is either a hit or miss. But here are seven of the easiest ways to motivate yourself and break free from what society tells you.

1. Dress for success

It's been proven that the better you feel about yourself, the better you will perform that day. Dressing nice for class isn't about trying to impress others or your professor, it's about putting your best foot forward and giving yourself the confidence to conquer the class. If you don't see your potential, who will?

2. Make to-do lists

There is simple satisfaction in being able to cross off accomplishments, no matter how long your list may be. When you feel like you are making progress, you are more motivated to keep pushing. Don't let the list of task overwhelm you: simply divide them up and get them done.

3. Reward Yourself

Take breaks! Find things to do that give you more energy and alleviate your stress. When you have that in the back of your mind while you're accomplishing your tasks, you will have more reason to push through. But don't let rewarding yourself become a distraction!

4. Set goals

Not all goals have to be enormous. Set ones that are easily accomplishable until you learn not to stress over them so much. Then, you can create bigger dreams and goals when you develop your determination and perserverance.

5. Go against the flow

Don't take other's moods and mentalities that say "I'm just lazy" or "Not today." Sure you will have tough days, but they most likely won't be at the same time all your friends have one. Be an influence on others, let them see your drive to success.

6. Be aware of your surroundings/influences

As before, those that are around you have influence over your life. Don't let those negative thoughts creep into your mind and make a home; remind yourself that you can control your own mentality despite what you are surrounded by. When others see that you are different, they will want to better themselves as well.

7. Sleep

Going too long without sleep is harmful to everyone. By sleeping, you allow your mind to take a break, which has proven a successful way to be able to refocus. Your brain can be your most negative influence when it listens to your emotions say "I'm tired" or "I need energy." Take care of those thoughts with rest.

These tips will help you perform to your greatest ability, which in turn gives you motivation to keep going. As you learn to motivate yourself, you will be able to influence those around you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
