When plane ticket sales increase and managers get bundles of requests from employees to take off work, it's clear that summer is upon us. Now is the perfect time to plan your vacations to spend time with family, take a trip with friends, or even go solo to explore the world on your own.

So it's the right time, and you have the right people, but the big question is: where do you go? There are so many factors to consider when choosing a place to go on vacation. You should especially consider the price, distance, safety, and activities available. This can make planning a trip seem overwhelming, and may even be the reason you've procrastinated on going through with that trip you desperately need. Luckily, with the help of thorough research and personal experience, here is a list of destinations for the summer of 2017 that are sure to provide fun and memorable vacations.

1. New York City, New York

New York serves as an option for those who wish to travel to a city environment. The "Big Apple" is constantly changing as one of the biggest cities in the U.S. It is iconic with landmarks and skyscrapers like the Empire State Building. Additionally, the city offers Fifth Avenue, Broadway, and a vibrant culture. New York is filled with diversity among restaurants, stores, buildings, and people.

2. Jackson Hole, Wyoming

On the opposite side of the spectrum from New York lies Jackson Hole, Wyoming. For the first time in 40 years, a total solar eclipse will occur on August 21st. With Wyoming's rural atmosphere, Jackson Hole will be a prime viewing location for the eclipse. Before or after the eclipse, there are plenty of activities to do in the area. Travelers can hike through beautiful national parks like Yosemite and explore Jackson's bakeries, shops, and landmarks.

3. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

For East Coasters looking to go somewhere not too far from home, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is a great destination. Their beaches provide a beautiful stress-free environment to catch some rays near the waves. Aside from Myrtle Beach's Oceanside view, the city offers amusement parks, outlet malls, theme-inspired restaurants, and sports that are all budget friendly.

4. Portland, Oregon

And now for West Coasters looking to go somewhere not too far from home, Portland, Oregon is a wonderful place to vacation. Portland has become a must-see city in the Pacific Northwest. It offers breweries, streets filled with food carts, hiking and biking paths, and water sports activities.

5. Honolulu, Hawaii

For those of you willing to spend a bit more money on a tropical vacation, Honolulu, Hawaii will be the perfect destination. Explore the cultural art across the Pacific Rim, botanical gardens, the history of Pearl Harbor, Hawaiian cuisine, and live performances. Honolulu serves as Hawaii's state capitol and an epicenter of Hawaii's spirited culture.

6. Indianapolis, Indiana

On the opposite side of an expensive and tropical getaway, Indianapolis, Indiana serves as a great Midwest travel destination. Get a taste of Midwestern culinary in the fan favorite brunch restaurant known as Milktooth. Within the past year and upcoming year, Indianapolis will have multiple trend-themed restaurants and breweries to make the city a great destination in America.
