Taylor Swift has done it again. Her "1989" World tour, stretching from May to December of 2015 while reaching three continents, has already grossed $86 million and counting. According to a Forbes.com article from May 2015, it is expected that Swift’s "1989" tour will earn her first $100 million year; I’d say she is pretty close to reaching that accomplishment. Taylor Swift’s concerts are always a spectacle. I witnessed her "Speak Now" tour in 2011, and I still think that it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. However, she has included a little something extra this year on her current tour: bringing special guests up on stage with her. And her stunt has once again placed her in the worldwide spotlight.
I have compiled a list—in no particular order—of my six favorite guests she brought on stage with her.1. Fetty Wap
Fetty Wap joined Taylor on August 8 in Seattle, and together they sang his current hit “Trap Queen.” I guess Taylor was his trap queen for the night. Hey, what’s up, hello?
Ellen wowed Taylor’s crowd in a sparkly tutu ensemble on August 24 in Los Angeles. She joined Taylor on the catwalk during “Style,” trying a new style of her own.
3. Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow)
Who else but Taylor Swift would revive the smash hit from the 90’s, “Smelly Cat?” On August 26 in Los Angeles, Phoebe Buffay, Lisa Kudrow’s character from the '90s sitcom "Friends" serenaded the crowd with her most famous coffee house jam. Though the Staples Center is a little bigger than her typical venue, Central Perk, Buffay held her own and the crowd loved her.
4. Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks
On August 24 in Los Angeles, Taylor Swift paid homage to one of her musical influences: Natalie Maines. According to billboard.com, Swift quoted, “I can safely and honestly say I would not be a musician if it had not been for this artist. I would not have wanted to be a country artist. I wouldn’t have dreamed the things that I dreamed and I wouldn’t be standing on this stage today.” Swift joined Maines in signing “Goodbye Earl,” one of the Dixie Chicks’ biggest hits. Though Swift has transitioned to pop music, she still remembers where she came from and the music that got her to where she is today.
5. U.S. Women’s Soccer Team
The World Champion U.S. Women’s Soccer Team teamed up with Swift on July 10 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Beaming with pride, they waved the American flag while waving to thousands of admiring fans during Swift’s hit “Style."
6. Hayley Steinfeld, Gigi Hadid, Lily Aldridge, and Lena Dunham
Swift’s “Bad Blood” video co-stars also made an appearance on July 10 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Of course, they joined Swift on the catwalk during “Bad Blood.” #squadgoals
