There are many perks of working in the airline industry, one of them is the layovers.

Without further adieu, here are 5 of my favorite places I've been thus far in my travels.

#1

Paradise Island, Nassau, Bahamas

The Atlantis Hotel is arguably the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The interior is marvelous with its displays of exquisite decor. The exterior is massive with a few wonderfully notable features which are the large seahorse sculptures atop and throughout its architectural extent. Other than its impressive architecture, the amenities are where the real fun is at. The Atlantis houses many captivating sources of entertainment both in and around its grounds, from its enormous water-slide (resembling an Aztec Ziggurat) to its sub-surficial aquarium where you can observe sea life from a whole new perspective (in an underwater tunnel). However, one of their more renowned attractions is their casino. You'll win some, and you'll lose some, but the point is to have fun, and that's practically guaranteed. These along with its top-notch service and the fantastic weather is how it's solidified its spot at #1 on the list.

#2

San Francisco, California

If you got a thirst to experience the 'melting pot' of American culture at its finest, then San Francisco is your dream destination. San Francisco offers you a unique opportunity to explore some integral parts of American history including: the Japanese/Korean/Mexican/Hispanic immigration, and all of their fight for equality, the birth of the Gay Pride movement and their fight for equality (The Castro Theatre), and even the growth of American technology with the influence from Silicon Valley.

When traveling to San Francisco, make sure you experience what there is to offer outside the city. The forests surrounding the metropolitan area can be great day hikes (Redwood Regional Park). However, if you are looking to relax a bit more, then the beaches may be something to check out (Ocean Beach).

For all of these reasons and more, San Francisco ranks #2 on my list.

#3

Los Angeles, California

Warm weather, great sights, and OMG celebrities! Los Angeles is home to Hollywood, the place where stars are born (which is ever so apparent with its sidewalks paved with stars). Yes, the star walk is one of the activities I enjoy in Los Angeles. It's always fun to see the names of your favorite icons immortalized in cement, but sometimes it's more fun to step on the names of the icons you dislike.

When you are in Los Angeles, be sure to check out the iconic Hollywood Sign, Griffiths Observatory, Manhattan Beach, and The Grove Mall where you may be able to spot some celebrities.

Los Angeles is definitely a worth-while destination, and for me, it ranks #3 on my list of top destinations.

#4

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Do you love sun, sand, surf, spectacular sights, delicious food, and most importantly, Fun? Well, if you don't, then don't go to Puerto Rico (period). Puerto Rico is a fantastic place to relax and unload the stress of daily life. Its pristine warm-water beaches, majestic rainforests, and unique culture make it a terrific vacation destination. Be sure to visit Old San Juan when you are there to really enrich yourself with the beautiful and unique display of Puerto Rican culture.

San Juan brings in #4 for my top 5 traveling experiences so far, however, there is a strong potential that it will make top 3 very soon.

#5

Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Lastly, at #5 is Ft. Lauderdale. This destination is one of the frequently visited places by Americans looking to unwind from their busy lives, as well as those looking to escape the Northern US winter. Shopping on Las Olas Blvd., and relaxing at the beach are just two of my favorite things to do in this city. At the beach, you can collect seashells, sunbathe, swim, build sandcastles, and even parasail (for those adventurous types). While on Las Olas Blvd. there is a slew of great locally owned stores and restaurants to check out. When I am down there, I really enjoy the Golden Lion restaurant/bar, but it's a tad on the expensive side so I try not to go too often. The next time you are taking a vacation, or just escaping winter, check out Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Like I said previously, these are the places I've been to so far, and there are much more adventures to be had. This list is not resolute, and will most likely change over the course of my occupation. I hope that you've enjoyed this article. Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
